Artist Statement

The scope of Guinevere Pura’s work examines the social, economic, and cultural landscape of urban cities. The matter-of-fact approach to her photographs is based on her interaction with the landscape and offers a structured framework to one’s sense of identity and memories within the metropolis and beyond. The ever-changing conurbation attracts others from all corners, and as people arrive to the “big city”, Pura records how they continue to alter the landscape to identify where they live, and remember where they had come from.
